Santiago
de Compostela was the last stop on our road trip. actually, it has been the last stop on thousands of travelers
pilgrimages for hundreds of years as it is the burial site of St James the Apostle. For centuries people from all over
Europe,
Asia and
Africa have left their homes and set out on foot, horseback, and now mountain bikes to reach the church pictured above. we walked the last 5 km. our hotel, a converted castle, was right next store and shared a beautiful 12
th century plaza with the church. the town itself is everything you could want out of a
medieval village and as luck would have it, the fair was in town! sadly, no 4-H kids, but the
ferris wheel went 12 stories in the air and spun around really fast.
